The story of Louis Vuitton
The history of the Louis Vuitton brand is primarily a family history. Louis Vuitton was born in 1821 in a small town in the Jura. Son of a carpenter, he is very comfortable with handling tools. At the age of 14 years, Louis Vuitton decided to leave his family to join Paris: then it travels 400 km on foot. In Paris, he worked as an apprentice to a "layetier-packer-trunk-" to make it Trunks. This expansion introduces the major problem of Louis Vuitton counterfeiting. In order to prevent against this scourge, the company Louis Vuitton tried several actions, including the creation of exclusive prints, without success.
On the death of Louis Vuitton in 1892, his son Georges took over the family business. Aided by his descendants, George is constantly innovating. In 1977, the company became a multinational, then in 1987 it merged with Mo?t Hennessy to create LVMH, the world leader in luxury.
Two years later, the brand leaves the family nest: it is now Bernard Arnault is the majority shareholder of the group. Bernard Arnault of Louis Vuitton intends to make an empire by offering new products. In 1997, the New York designer Marc Jacobs joined the house to create lines of ready-to-wear and invest the field of fashion.
